Review content:
My wife bought a ""supposed"" antique drop leaf table from Bygones. When I got home and looked at it I noticed that the top was plywood (only 3/4"" thick) and had been stained and had new hinges. I also found a ""peel"" on a corner of the top which is a tell tale sign of plywood damage (I build homes). Kaye, the owner, was arrogant and refused to examine the table with me. She scolded me and insisted to refund my money to get me out of her hair, which is fine, but I believe this comes down to a matter of what is right. She promised to send me a check the following Tues which actually didn't arrive for another week. She claims she had the table authenticated but didn?t offer any proof. This whole experience makes me question Bygones. They have some beautiful things, but I wonder if Kaye and her arrogant employees are too full of themselves and are not willing to own up to a mistake. BTW, we have been officially banned from her store. And she thought that would silence me.
Pros: nice stuff
Cons: questionable ethics
