When my wife and I moved from the West Coast to Long Island, we needed to find something to replace our daily hikes in the hills which surrounded our previous dwelling. We know that with the incredibly unpredictable weather here in NY, that meant joining a Gym. We found, within walking distance of our apartment, an NYSC club.
We both loved that it was walking distance from our apartment and also liked that they had personal TV's on most of the machines. While doing the Elliptical machine I could watch Seinfeld or King of Queens. The exercise goes by so much more quickly and painlessly, when watching TV. The Gym is never terribly crowded, but sometimes we will not get the best machine, or a machine with a TV.
The Gym also offers a variety of classes. We have not taken any of these, but there is anything from Cycling to Middle Eastern Belly Dancing. We got a complimentary Gym bag, hat, and earphones. I can tell you that I have already gone through 3 earphones. This has been the one sticking point. The earphones seem to have a short life, and while they have been happy, so far, to replace the ones that seem to all of a sudden stop working, I would think they would make this product a little stronger.
The hours are convenient, and overall, while this can not compare to being outside in the fresh air, it gets the job done.
