Review content:
Le Café Miche Bistro offers wonderful French and other continental food at reasonable prices in a charming petite atmosphere. Located on Albuquerque’s west side, this hidden gem is a must visit for the discerning gourmet in search of quality and enjoyable tastes in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere that will include numerous neighborhood regulars. Located at 10126 Coors Blvd., NW, at the La Bella Spa & Salon, the restaurant serves delightful breakfasts and lunch specials in addition to a variety of regular choices that feature everything cooked from scratch. Seating is both inside and at an outside patio. The beef stroganoff is hearty and filling and for lighter fare, I strongly recommend the chicken Provençale and chicken or seafood vol-au-vent and a variety of crêpes. Danish Christmas duck, beef stew, and green chili stew are tasty seasonal specialties that are alone worth a trip to the Westside of Albuquerque. Other specials worth special mention are bratwurst and Danish meatballs – frikadeller. Mogens gravies are a magnificent complement to any meal. My wife regularly appreciates the salmon and a wide variety of quiches and salads offered and I find the Bistro sandwich a frequent less-filling choice. The French Onion Soup Lyonnais is simply the best I have ever tasted – anywhere! The homemade dinner rolls are better than any other in the city. There are a wide variety of tempting desserts should you actually have an appetite after what I promise will be a most satisfying meal. Owner/chef, Mogens Hansen, a native of Denmark, is a well-established New Mexico restaurateur that was the original owner of Le Café Miche on Wyoming. He sold that business to long-time friend Claus Hjortkjaer. Mogens has also been a chef in Taos and Executive Chef at the Hilton Hotel in Albuquerque. Mogens has now opened the Bistro where he continues a long tradition of gastronomical excellence. Service is provided by either Mogens’ wife Ulla or by Erika. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 AM until 4:00 PM. 505-890-8084. Price range moderate. Major credit cards accepted. Pros: The Food! Cons: Nothing
