Ocean Springs, MS is a place like no other! This is a town that is surrounded by water - was devistated by Katrina - whoes sprit could not be squashed! Artsy to the nth degree, the folks here care about everyone and everything around them - a whole new meaning for tree huggers! One of my favorite experiences in my life was the 4th of July on the beaches of Ocean Springs...We were ALL there, our family and half of Mississippi. We cooked out on the beach and started the fireworks showdown! EVERYONE was firing off fire works - kids, adults...it was almost scary! Then the City display started, followed by Biloxis in the background and then the Casinos fireworks! It was like a never ending coloring of a black canvas in the sky! No one hurt, everyone saciated with thier experience - the beaches destroyed! By midnight the cops were telling us the beach had closed and we had to go home. The next morning, at 6:00am, I went out for a monring walk. Expecting to see all the trash and burnt fireworks from all the partying from the night before and what did I see???? Beautiful, white sand with the water lapping up against the shore. Combed by the City of Ocean Springs, these beaches did not remotely resemble the ones we walked off of the night before.\r
What a place to play!
