Review content:
We thought that this would be a fun and rustic little inn to stay in with our two children as we explored Mt. Rainier. We had a room upstairs above the store/cafe. We checked in late (around 6ish) after spending a day in the park. We walked in to find old torn furniture and and nothing comfortable to even sit on. The floor was stained with large spots and looked filthy. All for $120.00 a night. I actually wrote all this off. It is a run down place next to the park and figured it was heavily used by very tired and dirty hikers. We were really only there to sleep so we could hike in the morning. So, we brushed it all off to a ""rustic experience"" and headed to bed. That's when it got bad. It was uncomfortably warm, the toilet ran all night, the excessive floral air fresheners all over caused my asthma and allergies to go crazy, and our bed was more than horrible...it was disgusting. Our mattress was literally concave and you couldn't lay flat. We turned on the lights to look at everything and found stains on all the mattresses and box springs. Mattress protectors were not used and there were holes in all the covers. We didn't want to stay and went to talk to the owner who takes your money in advance. (now we know why). He was gone, everything was closed up at 8pm! Now late, with kids and no where to go, we tried to tough it out. I ended up sleeping with my daughter because her bed wasn't as bad and sleeping on the dirty stained floor wasn't an option. None of us slept and we now too tired to hike. :( We approached the owner the next morning and asked for at least a partial refund and explained that we didn't expect perfection, just a clean safe room which we didn't get. We also asked for papers showing his guarantee or refund policy and he claimed not to even know what those were. My husband and I calmly spoke to him but when I showed him the pictures of the stained mattresses that I took with my phone he lost it. He started yelling and saying things like, ""You gonna sue me now, huh? HUH??? Go ahead, I have lawyers! Why would you take pictures!!!!???"" He brought me to tears and as my husband tried to tell him that he needed to calm down, he just yelled more. He said terrible things to us and we quickly left after being denied any refund. We quietly left, I was crying (and in shock) and my husband was giving me a second to calm down parked away from the inn and the owner came out yelling at us with our children in the car saying sue me, sue me!!!!We would never sue anyone (and NEVER mentioned it to this man) and have NEVER asked for a refund before. We have been all over the country and stayed in many hotels and places similar to this inn. We are not picky and are very respectful. My husband got out of the car and tried to calm him down, but he continued to yell asking if we were FBI or some other things. Obviously there is something wrong with this man. He was very paranoid and acted irrational and desperate. It was very scary. He kept saying to us while we left, I have all your info and will SUE YOU!!! I have no idea for what, but the only reason this place is in business is because of it's location. Maybe the cabins are ok, but the upstairs motel is terrible and I truly believe it only gets one time visitors, never would someone return.
**I watched him (the owner) the day before be very rude to another couple who was buying candy. The bag had a hole in it and the couple realized it and gave it to the owner....(being nice) and the owner accused their daughter of throwing it and blamed them for the broken bag!!! I saw this little girl the whole time she was next to me and she did no such thing. Just terrible customer service. :(
