Review content:
Six of us - two from Westchester Co, NY, two from Montclair, NJ where some of the best restaurants, including Indian, are to be had, and our parents who live a town away from Rangmahal, met to celebrate a special family birthday. This was our 1st, 2nd and 3rd time respectively and Rangmahal never disappoints. The service always feels as if we are welcome guests in someone's home; it is that hospitable. Puja suggests delicious dishes from among the very wide-ranging menu and the flavors are complex and pleasing. We usually end up ordering more than we can eat as the dishes are so plentiful and the selection so enticing. But that way we get to enjoy our meals the next day, too, which makes the somewhat upscale prices more affordable. It is worth every penny but this is not a bargain, Indian buffet. Arun told us a wonderful story about their wedding celebrations in India. The rest of the staff were also very attentive and nice people as well and we never felt rushed although we stayed quite a long time eating and talking and enjoying ourselves. We were surprised by a complimentary birthday dessert (I cannot promise this is standard) and we all felt relaxed and very satisfied - by food, mood, service, atmosphere and the whole experience. Rangmahal is a very special restaurant run by a very special couple. P.S.: Dynamite cocktails; try the ginger martini with fresh juliennes of ginger. Pros: ambience, service, food Cons: lighting a bit dark
