Review content:
We were recommended to visit Post Oak Grill in Sugar Land. It is somewhat tucked away into a strip center and therefore not easily seen from the street. Our kids were away for the weekend, and we were looking for a restaurant that lacked crowds, was close to home, and offered good food/service. Kudos to our neighbor, whose recommendation proved wise. There were plenty of parking options, and there was no wait (we were seated immediately). The ambience was nice, offering jazz style and easy-listening music, a dimly lit atmosphere with candle light, and clothe table coverings and napkins. The tables were spaced out nicely as well. Chris, our waiter, took great care of us. He was knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations from both food and wine listings. My husband and I are both light eaters and like to share our meals. Plus, it allows us to try different things. We decided to take the evening slow, not rushing to get to the main course. Chris was aware of this and would check back every little bit to ensure our wine glasses were topped off and that we were still doing okay. We paced our appetizer and salad and were not hurried to move ahead. Once we decided it was time to serve up the main course, Chris called in the order, which arrived hot in about 5 minutes. To complete our evening, we shared a glass of tawny dessert wine. The food and wine were delicious. (appetizer: ahu-tuna & salmon terrine; salad: nantucket spinach salad; main course: 3-peppercorn crusted filet) This restaurant is a bit more upscale, and will be equivalent to that of a steakhouse... but SO worth it. If you are looking for a low key place that offers a quieter atmosphere for good conversation with great food and service, Post Oak Grill is the place to go. We will definitely return. (Recommended for couples or small group) Pros: food, atmosphere, service, parking
