I have been a runner for a little over three and a half years now. Having grown comfortable running long distances - anywhere from 6 to 15 miles, I thought I would ""kick it up a notch"" and try training for a triathlon. Consequently, I looked for an inexpensive starter road bike that would get me acclimatized to the rigors of triathlon training. I went ahead and purchased a road bike from Walmart which, for my purposes, served me quite well. \r
In the course of riding I got a flat tire and having recently moved to Irving, found (on the internet) that the nearest repair shop was Bills bicycle Shop. I telephoned them on a Saturday, spoke with someone on the phone who agreed to repair my flat tire. When I got there, I found an elderly gentleman who at first seemed pleasant enough. As he was inspecting my bike, he asked me where I bought it. I told him Walmart. From this point on, everything changed. He started using foul language and told me that my bike was not "" worth a cup of cold urine"" among a host of other expletives directed to myself and Walmart. He told me that if he had known that the bike was from Walmart, he would have charged me $15 to repair the flat tire. He then told me to remove my bike from his store as he was not going to work on it. I complied and left. \r
All I wanted was a flat tire repaired. I'm not sure what his problem is with Walmart. I just feel that it is extremely poor customer service and customers should not have to bear the brunt of his beef with Walmart. If this is the kind of reception they give new customers, I'm not sure about the overall quality of their work. I would not recommend this store to anyone.
