Interior Specialists, Inc, or, ""ISI,"" was the contracted flooring company through my builder, California West Communities. We purchased our home and as closing approached, I was directed to ISI to select and purchase the flooring. After being shown ""promotional"" items that were supposed to be on special or discounted (obviously the salesperson was getting a kickback on these items because all of my neighbors who did go through ISI have the same Provenza African Plains flooring!) my dream flooring came out to $40,000.00 for a 3300sf home. Hardwood, carpet, tile, travertine and a specialized mosaic in my guest bathroom. Imagine my shock! They did not want to give me a per square foot price, but, when the sales rep finally gave me a breakdown, the Provenza African Plain's Congo hardwood came out to over $18.00 per sf installed. Within minutes I had pulled the floor up on my IPhone and could have purchased it myself and had it delivered to my garage for $4.99/sf. So, I did my homework, bid the EXACT PRODUCTS out to multiple local San Diego flooring companies and got an amazing job done with the EXACT SAME PRODUCTS for $25,000.00. ISI offered me an ""aggressive discount of $2700.00"" off of the 40K, but, not even CLOSE. Of course, they attempted to cast doubt on the other flooring company, basic Sales 101, which was terribly insulting given that I've been a salesperson for 15 years myself, and gave me the tired, ""make sure you are comparing apples to apples"" argument. Well, I got my apples and saved myself $15,000.00 and I encourage anyone who is being directed to make your purchases through ISI to do your homework too. The company I DID go through was Abbey Carpet and Flooring on Miramar Road
