I always used to shop for meat and a few other things at the Walnut St (Newton) Bread/Circus. Their meat and fish depts were excellent. About 3-4 years ago we began shopping at the Washington St store. At first, the fish dept was ""acceptable to good"" (some fish odor existed unlike Walnut St, meaning less freshness). They gradually improved and less odor for past year - I would say it is now good-very good. BUT, the meat dep at Washington St store has MOST DEFINETLY gone ""downhill"". We have returned more meat from there in 3 years than we did in over 15 years at Walnut st. The meat in past year seems to have lost much of it's excellent flavor and sometimes has an odor. I emailed the company and, in their aloof wisdom, they would not reply to my inquiry about their meat (have they changed vendors, do they buy for all stores at same places, etc). I'm looking for new store to buy our meat now!
Pros: most of the stuff is good
Cons: MEAT HAS GONE DOWNHILL
