Review content:
Beagles and Buddies is a great place to get a dog! The dogs there are well cared for and there is much effort to have the dogs socialize so they are friendly with other dogs and people. I got 2 dogs there 7 years ago. They were both Beagles, but they have lots of other types there too. The male Beagle (Wally), I got has been the joy of my life, but at 17&1/2, he died a year ago last December. Last January, I took my other Beagle (Bonnie), who then was 8 years old, up to Beagles and Buddies, to look for another companion for her and me. Together we picked out Buddy (who was 15 years old), and his ""cell mate"" Maggie (who was 8). Both dogs are absolutely wonderful and fit in well with Bonnie who is a wonderful dog too! I am so happy that a place like Beagles and Buddies exists so these animals can be saved. When I got the two dogs, I was given a deal of $150 for both, as they had some medical needs. I felt that was too cheap, as the rescue needs money to take care of all the dogs they save. I gave them $200 each, and was happy to provide the extra money! Taking care of older dogs is not cheap. They need to have their teeth cleaned on a regular basis (once a year is recommended). The money that you give Beagles and Buddies for a dog is not to pay for the dog, but to help take care of all the other dogs still there. I am hoping Buddy will live at least for two more years. He is doing well now and very happy in my house. I have spent more on his medical care than on his original cost, as I have spent over $3,000 on his medical needs. He is a great joy to my life, and his medical issues have been resolved, for now. Beagles and Buddies is a great place to get a dog, and when I am ready to get another dog, I will be going to Beagles and Buddies with my family (and my dogs), to pick out another one!
Pros: Lots of wonderful dogs
Cons: A long way to go from San Diego
