I am a customer and because of a failed debit of $25 because of a misunderstanding with the account name, EMC has just charged me an arbitrary deposit of $320 because of my ""credit."" It seems they do a 12 month review of your payment history then tack on a deposit to your account if you are late or have some blemish on your payment. That's like a landlord asking for another deposit after you moved in. Since they have a monopoly where I live, then either I have to pay it or sit in the dark. Or move. I am on a fixed income too and with the added monthly expense I can count on higher and higher bills. Don't use EMC if you don't have to. By the way, my ""12 month review"" happened 6 months early. Pros: It's a Coop Cons: It's a Coop, So if anyone else does something wrong, you have to pay for it because you MIGHT do something wrong.
