Review content:
We will not use Reynolds Realty again. Dan Schock managed our property for five years while we rented our house as we were at different locations with the military and during that time we really didn’t have any issues. The problem came when we decided we were going to sell the house. The house was on the market for six months (with a couple of price reductions) and we didn’t get any offers. We were curious, but understand the market is terrible right now so we figured things just weren’t selling well. At the end of the six months we decided to pull the house off the market and return to Florida at the end of our military commitment. When we moved back in, we found that there were other reasons for the fact that there was no interest in the house. Essentially, it was in bad shape. It was dirty (especially the kitchen and the bathrooms), there were screens ripped on the lanai, a door hinge was ripped out of the frame, a shelf support was ripped out of the wall, what appeared to be feces on a wall, trash on the ledge in the living room, filthy oven/range and refrigerator, grease all over the kitchen cabinets and down the side of the oven, dried paper (spitballs maybe) on the living room ceiling, no a/c filter in the return, the dryer vent was left unplugged so there was evidence that small animals had been in and out, a dead gecko and food were under the fridge, and there was excess furniture and personal items from the tenant in the garage. We asked for the security deposit back (we had authorized its return based on the word of the property manager that the house was good). We were told that the money had been returned and that I should have said something a couple of months earlier as I had been into the house for a few minutes while on a quick business trip to Tampa. I had walked through the house to check it out quickly and did not have time to look at everything closely. I saw that it was somewhat dirty, but knew there had been traffic through the house and it had been vacant for months so I chalked what I saw up to that. So I told that to the realtor and was told again that I should have said something earlier and the deposit had been returned to the tenant. I further found out that our property manager had been fired for similar problems with other folks (did not know this until after the house was off the market for a month). The irritating thing was being told that this was our fault when we don’t believe it was. After some arguing back and forth via phone and email, the realtor agreed to return just under half of the security deposit. We decided to accept that offer (it took multiple phone calls and visits until we finally got the money about four months later) but will not use this company again if we need a realtor.
