Review content:
I had a lunch date with a great guy (my husband :); he'd heard about this place from some friends who love Mexican food as much we do. We went around 1.15 on a Wednesday; thankfully, the lunch crowd had cleared out and only 2 or 3 of the 6 tables were in use. To start with, the service is great. The staff welcomes you graciously and is quick to get chips & drinks. The chips were OK - I need to salt them - but the two salsas that came with were fabulous. I like my salsas chunky & hot, my husband likes his smooth & mild; we got a little bowl of each, without even asking. I had a ""Sunburn"" (Suava, triple sec & cranberry juice), which was delicious. I ordered a small ($6), and it was the size of most medium to large margaritas at other Mexican restaurants. We couldn't decide on what to order, so we opted to share, ordering two fajitas ($9.99) - one pork, one steak - and a taco salad with grilled chicken. The waiter asked if we'd be splitting and brought us two plates to go with our salad. We dug into the salad and were pleasantly surprised - the chicken strips were tender and juicy, and the bottom of the taco bowl was smeared with fabulous refried beans. I don't like guac with onions, so they brought a dish full of the fixings - pico de gallo, guac, sour cream and shredded Mexican cheese. This was nice, as we could ""dress"" our salad. My husband said the taco bowl was a bit too heavy on the grease and didn't eat more than a bite. The waiter came to our table to refill water and, seeing that we were mostly through with the salad, asked if we were ready for fajitas. They came about 5 minutes later, sizzling and beautiful. The steak was cooked to perfection - not too done, not too rare - and the carnitas.... oh the carnitas. We also got our own plates of fixings - a bowl of delicious pinto beans, yummy rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and cheese. The corn tortillas were also perfectly steamed, not pan-fried and left to dry. We walked out of the restaurant with two boxes of food, a bill of less than $35 - and stupid grins. Best date lunch I've had, & we're planning for many more in months to come.
