Review content:
I took my son's birthday present (a guinea pig) there for treatment on a Monday because it was losing it's balance and was sluggish. The doctor almost immediately diagnosed it with Scurvy (this was just an educated guess since no lab test was done nor was it offered) and came up with a medical plan which cost us approximately $400. Believe it or not, I agreed to pay it and was told that scurvy is very treatable at this stage and she would make a full recovery. By Friday, she had gotten much worse so I took her back to Care but the doctor was out sick so they suggested I either wait until Tuesday or go to another vet. I took her elsewhere and was told that she did not have scurvy. She had an ear infection which by this time was so bad that they could not successfully treat her so I had to elect euthanasia. I went back to Care on Saturday to tell them what had happened and to see if they would be kind enough to refund the money I spent on an unnecessary treatment. They first told me that they would only give me money back for any unopened food or medicine I had (of course, we had opened everything because if I'm spending that much for treatment, I'm going to follow through with the treatment!). They finally said that they would refund the money for anything I took home whether it was opened or not as long as I still had the packaging. This came to a $59 refund. The only way that they would refund the full amount of the treatment is if I could get a letter from the other vet stating that without a doubt, Care had misdiagnosed. Of course, the 2nd vet could not do that because by this time, the guinea pig was already gone. I didn't think that having additional tests run on her at the 2nd vet would be necessary because we had been going to Care for years so I assumed that they would admit that their Dr. could have made a mistake. After being a long-time customer, I expected a little compassion and good customer service. I didn't get either.
