It was Mon. night in Little Tokyo and Hamakawa was closed, so our group of six went around the corner to Izakaya Haru Ulala based on a few good reviews here on CitySearch. We loved it! The sushi and sashimi were very good -- maguro and salmon were fresh and in generous portions. Salmon in miso, grilled hamachi, grilled short rib, and steamed clams were outstanding small plates. A couple of pitchers of Kirin draft ($10 each) and a few bottles of sake and we were in heaven. Service was fast and friendly. One person in our group ended up liking this place better than Hamakawa, which is quite a testament. We will definitely return in the future!
