Review content:
This is not a review based on the food, service, or decor, however, I believe that people should hear what I have to say about this restaurant. I read a few positive reviews and decided to make a reservation for Valentines Day. The hostess on the phone informed me that a reservation cannot be made because ""the manager is out of town and will return the call to make a reservation"". I found this to be odd and fishy. Afterall, it doesn't take a manager or the restaurants owner to make a reservation. How many times can you remember where you called to make a reservation and needed to speak to the manager in order to do this? Probably, never. Anyway, I waited for two weeks and the manager never called me back (I wasn't surprised) because I didn't honestly believe the ""manager story"" anyway. I began to wonder whether this restaurant was worth it -- perhaps I should have called someone else to make a reservation but decided to give it a second try anyway. This time, I was given another story -- but it did two things. #1, it gave the truth and #2, it proved that the ""manager story"" was indeed bogus. This time I was told by the hostess on the phone that ""priority is given to customers who have eaten in the restaurant before and left their email addresses"". So basically, whoever ate their before and left their email address would be contacted and if any remaining seats existed, it would go to first time customers. I found this to be ridiculous. I'm sorry Zinkichi but you havent earned the all-star reputation to offer priority seating for past clients. I have been to all of the well-known restaurants in NY -- Water Club, Sea Grill, One if by Land two if by Sea, Peter Lugors, and many many others. None of them offer priority to existing customers. There are zillions of amazing restaurants in NY and Zinkichi doesn't deserve the business from people they think don't deserve their food.
