Review content:
I'm a regular customer at this place, and they not only know me by name (as I do them), they often surprise me with a small sake on the house (I bring in as many new customers as I possibly can). The sushi is so amazing that I've never had anything else on the menu. The Ninza Roll may well be the single best food item I've ever had in 30 years of eating out, and the Belmont Roll satisfies like no other. I've tried every sushi place in the Nashville area, and though the high dollar places like Virago can certainly deliver, I keep coming back to Taste of Tokyo. \r \r If the service is above and beyond because I'm a regular customer, well that may be, but remember that I had to become a regular customer first, for other reasons -- namely the food. But despite the random complaints here, I've never had a long wait and I've never had anything less than friendly, detail-oriented service from warm, personable servers in more than 6 years of eating there. And we all love Lucy to pieces!\r \r I could live without the Jim Brickman CD on 'repeat', however. Fortunately, it's only playing about 75% of the times I've eaten there. The one legitimate complaint I've found in this forum isn't the restaurant's fault -- the parking situation leaves a bit to be desired, as one cramped parking lot serves 5 or 6 establishments.\r \r But don't let that impede your best sushi experience. The Ninza alone is worth walking two miles to the restaurant and sitting on tacks for an hour. It's that good. Pros: Ninza, Belmont, other specialty rolls -- incredible and satisfying. And the price is insanely inexpensive. Cons: The decor/ambience -- it's a glorious little hole in the wall for eating, not soaking in the ambience!
