Review content:
It brings me no pleasure to write this negative review but I feel obligated at this point to inform others of the poor workmanship and even worse follow up received from Arrowhead Concrete and it's owner Matthew Daily. In May 2010, I contracted Matthew to remove my existing driveway and front porch and replace it for the sum of $4,558. Before entering into contract with Arrowhead Concrete I spoke with three or four different concrete companies to receive several bids. Matthew presented himself in a very professional manner and appeared to be very knowledgeable about the concrete business. He also offered a very reasonable rate compared to some of the other bids I received. He was not the least expensive but his personality and demeanor led me to choose his company for the job. Unfortunately, this decision would prove to be disastrous. Matthew asked for half of the payment up front before any work had been started, this should have been a clear warning sign to me that something wasn't right and in hindsight I would have never given him any money until the work was completed knowing what I know now. This was my own bad decision and I take responsibility for it. Project start date, I arrive at my house with my children in the late morning to find two of Matthew's employees lying on their backs in my front yard. They didn't acknowledge us at all and we had to step over/around them to get in the front door. Matthew shows up about a half an hour later and they begin to tear out the concrete utilizing a Bobcat with a pneumatic breaker attached to the front. They started with the driveway and that went smoothly but when they removed the concrete from the front porch I ended up with a three inch crack in the window that is directly over the porch. I didn't make a big deal about this and sadly it turned out to be the least of my problems. When they showed up the next day they were several hours late and the pour was rushed as a result. Sufficient soil compaction was not performed from what I have been told by another concrete contractor which resulted in several large cracks in our brand new driveway and porch less than a month after it was poured. I'm not talking about hairline cracks, these cracks are 1/4"" wide or larger. The new driveway and porch are no better than the old driveway and porch. Clean up and back fill on the new driveway/porch was not performed. The forms were removed and that was it. If I could attach photos I would be happy to do so as I hope that it would encourage others not to use Arrowhead Concrete and become another victim if my review were not enough. Several attempts have been made to contact Matthew. He answered my call the first time and told me that he would come out to inspect the work. He never showed up. All other calls from my home phone were never answered. I reached him one other time by calling from the neighbors telephone and he answered on the second ring. I asked him why he had never come out to my house to inspect the job and he apologized and said that he had been extremely busy and that he would come out immediately. This is the last contact I have had with Matthew Daily, all subsequent calls/text messages have been completely ignored and I suspect that I will never hear from him again. I feel at this point I have no choice but to pursue litigation in small claims court. Please heed my review and avoid Arrowhead Concrete and Matthew Daily so you do not have to suffer the same experience I have had to deal with.
