Review content:
I was to be in SanFrancisco for a meeting, but wanted a break from the standard fare of business hotels, but didn't want luxury hotel prices. It was also imperative that it be well located and convenient to public transportation. we started the trip poorly, with the flights canceledm issued our connecting flight, and arrived a day late. The hotel was personal and gracious, forgiving the late arrival. We literally had to dump our bags in the lobby and rush to my speaking engagement, for which i was already late. I was a bit concerned about the lack of air-conditioning, but it was delightful. We spend a lot of time in France, and can't stand cheesy cliche French atmosphere. We had some misgivings with the larger than life Joan of Arc wedged in between the realistically small French elevator and the ""cave"" style restaurant. But it was all part of the attempt to fill the charming hotel with as much French memorabilia and charm as possible. Electronically, it was a bit challenging (we had to interrupt the manager's working lunch to ask to be able to print our return boarding passes); but all in all lovely. Close to trolly stops and within easy distances of all major areas of interest, including walking distance from Union Square. I would definitely recommend this tiny oasis to anyone wanting to inject authentic charm into their stay.
