Review content:
Ever since Chef Robey took over the kitchen at the newly re-opened Veranda, something really special has been happening on Highland Avenue that has nothing to do with Bottega. This is the best place in Birmingham to sample authenic cajun/creole dishes with a unique southern flair. I have yet to be disappointed...heck, I've never failed to be blown away by the food this place puts out. I've tried BBQ shrimp at least 100 times, and the Veranda's doesn't have a close competitor for the #1 spot on my all-time list. The service is good, the atmosphere great and the food is out of this world. Do yourself a favor and get here fast before a waiting list becomes the norm.
Pros: Some of the best food in a city known for great food.
Cons: Service can be slow at times, though it's well worth the wait.
