Pro Keys Discount Locksmith claims that is serves Chicago and Surrounding Suburbs. Well they do stick it to them anyways. My little brother lost his keys and we spent hours calling around to try to help him get a new key created.
We finally found Pro Keys Discount Locksmith....or so we thought. Not only do they claim to be a 24/7 locksmith, and then said they could not make it out after 10:00 PM, but they also forgot to tell us that they price they quoted over the phone would only be half the cost.
We were asked to have someone come out in the morning instead of at night, so I moved my schedule around to make sure I could be there as I would have to pay for him to get a key made. As a self employed individual myself I understand that time is money. So you can bet I was upset when they showed up a half hour late to start. But, then the tech. (Paul) actually did a pretty good job being helpful not only making the key, but jumping my brothers car as well.
The only problem came when he gave me the invoice for $279.00, when I was quoted $155.00 for one key to be made. He claimed it is not his job to discuss the costs and I would have to call customer service and he took off.
This is where it got real ugly. Robert the customer service representative could not have handled the situation worse. Not only did he continue to insult me by saying if $80 was a big deal to me, then he feels sorry for me, but he refused to address my actual concern. He stood by that only hookers quote their hourly rate before performing a service. I did not know where he was going with that, as well as several of his other comparisons he attempted to make. He forced the technician to get on the phone after claiming it should be his job to know the price, and to inform the client if there is a large price change before doing the job. The technician again claimed he did not do billing, and was no help discussing this issue.
Robert then blurted out we are done, if you can't pay $80 dollars extra for someone to work in 88 degree weather I feel sorry for you. Really? I work as hard as I can to make a living for my family, and you feel sorry for me for getting upset when someone attempts to take money out of their pocket? He could not have been any more rude and obtrusive.
I would suggest to RUN away from this company at all costs.
Pros: Technician did a good job.
Cons: Charged double quoted price, horrible customer service.
