Review content:
I began to have swelling in my knee after running. I especially had trouble with stairs. I went to an Orthopedist who recommended that I have an MRI. Once accomplished, the MRI showed some torn cartilege and arthritis. He recommended surgery to ""clean out"" the knee. I didn't want to do that.
I went to Dr. Swank, who evaluated my leg and hip muscles, my knee, and my foot and ankle. He determined that I was placing imbalanced (unbalanced?) weight on my knee causing extra stress and pressure. He fitted me with shoe inserts, used physical therapy on my knee and leg, and manipulated my hip with chiropractic.
Result? No surgery and no problems, even on long runs. Stairs? Occasional tweek, but minimal.
Try Dr. Swank before you get cut on. Like he told me, ""you can always have the operation, but you can never undo it'.
