Review content:
While Tipsy's has a large selection of wines, I don't think it's a very impressive one. Moreover, the store does not always post correct wine ratings from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, etc. I went in with my iPhone and checked ratings on some of the wines they had. In several cases their posted ratings, supposedly from Wine Spectator, etc were marked as being higher ratings than the wines had actually received. In one case Tipsy's billed a bottle of wine priced at around $70 as having a 97 rating from Wine Spectator - sounds like a deal, right? The actual Wine Spectator rating for that wine, that year was 88. 9 points off is ridiculous. I found smaller but still significant rating discrepancies on others. After a long search, I decided to buy a nice (95 point WS) Prum Reisling which was advertised at $40.98. When rung up, the price in their system was $46.99. I pointed out that the shelf tag said $40.98, but the checkout person still rang it up at $46.99. I asked her to call someone to check the price, and the person she called said they checked the shelf tag and it was $46.99. I walked her over to the shelf and showed the $40.98 tag. A manager (I assume) came over, the checkout girl explained the issue, and the manager said to her - without even looking at me - ""Well, I guess we have to give it to her at that price."" in the most surly voice imaginable. I got my refund, but no apology. I think the lower level staff who work there try hard, but the management set a poor example on how to treat customers. Also, I will not shop here again - false advertising does not win my business. Cons: Incorrect ratings posted for wine, bad customer service
