Review content:
After years of frequenting the more talked-about ""popular"" hair salons in Albuquerque like Mark Pardo (worst experience of my life), Chez'Dor (the absolute SNOBBIEST staff I have ever encountered), and La Bella (are these people even licensed??), I stumbled across a Heart & Soul advertisement in the Alibi. The mention of the fact that they use Bumble & bumble products is what first caught my eye (I lived in New York for several years and became addicted to Bumble & bumble and was disappointed when I moved to Albuquerque and found it so hard to find). I decided to give Heart & Soul a try joking to myself that it really could not get much worse. When I walked into the salon the day of my appointment, I was absolutely blown away. What was a place like this doing in Albuquerque?? The lofty feeling and modern clean lines made me feel like I was in NYC again. Their space is so amazingly beautiful. Whoever did their interior design deserves an award. The dark concrete floors and black leather sofas are so seductive and when you add the mirrors and blowdryers suspended from 20+ ft. ceilings, it is stunning. The staff was so genuinely friendly which is so far from anything else I have experienced in an Albuquerque salon. I think 2 people BESIDES the receptionist and my stylist said hello to me during my hour-long visit. After about a 2 min. wait, I was introduced to David who greeted me with such a warm smile, I immediately felt like I was in good hands. We discussed-at length-what I wanted to do with my hair & after we both felt like he had a very good understanding of what I wanted, it was off to the shampoo bowls for a great shampoo followed by a fantastic haircut. I have been back to David several times for both highlights & cuts & have always encountered the same friendly, welcoming environment accompanied by a wonderful service. Before Heart & Soul, I didn't know if it was possible for a beautiful, upscale salon to offer such friendly service.
Pros: Excellent service from every staff member, great parking for downtown.
Cons: So far from my house. . . Now I have to drive across town every 6 weeks for the rest of my life!!
