Review content:
My brother came from California. We had both seen the show on The Food Channel (""Dumpsters - Diners and Dives"" .... or a variation!) featuring the Monte Carlo and their steaks. This was a great opportunity to venture 25 miles for dinner - so off we went with out wives.\r
\r
The Rib Eye was our choice. They list five or six ways steaks can be cooked. We all asked for RARE - which should be cool in the center. The 14 ounce steaks that came wer far beyond ""rare"", more like ""medium"" (nasty way to ruin meat!).\r
\r
We all mentioned it to our waitress and she went to the cook to see what happened. A gent who never introduced himself came to the table and asked about ""the problem"". We relayed our disappointment and our definite dislike for ANY MEAT cook ""beyond rare"". He asked if we would be satisfied if we were only charged for TWO STEAKS. We all replied, ""no"" and explained we did not come in to get free meals in any quantity. He was not pleased and informed us that out of two-dozen customers that evening (August 6th 2008) we were the only ones to complain. We politely informed HIM it did not matter; and if we could not get the steak cooked as we asked, we would simply leave.\r
\r
We stood to go and out of the blue another table with four folks motioned towards the waitress. They had a similiar complain - theirs were not cooked enough - they were - as you might guess 'rare"" and they had asked for ""medium"". The gent who offered us two free meals then said, ""oh we switched the orders"", so we will just switch them to the correct tables! in short - we all would get steaks which had been cut into and tasted by other individuals. ""What a way to run a restaurant"", exclaimed a lady at table number two!\r
\r
In the end - we ALL LEFT and went elsewhere. The quality might not have been as good, but they were cooked PERFECTLY and were 4 ounces larger than at The Monte Carlo!\r
\r
NEVER AGAIN WILL I DINE BEHIND A LIQUOR STORE! No matter which TV show features their cuisine!
Pros: Horrible experience - but at least we got out without paying for food NOT cooked as we asked.
Cons: ATTITUDE - CRUDE AND RUDE STAFF / MANAGER (OWNER??)
