My cat was born with a genetic kidney disease. About two weeks ago, I took him to my regular vet because he was throwing up. The vet said it was probably stomach upset, gave us a week's worth of antibiotics for GI problems and sent us on our way.
Two Friday nights later, I came home from work to find a lethargic, feverish cat that would not eat or drink. I called my vet on Saturday morning, but that said they were booked solid and could not see my severally ill cat.
I called Dr. Smith's office and Ashley said she was booked as well, but they would squeeze us in. Dr. Smith immediately recognized that my poor cat was in pain. She did an x-ray to make sure it wasn't something serious and gave my cat sub-Q fluid in the office so that he would not get dehydrated. She also started him on a two-week course of antibiotics because it turned out he had a kidney infection. I found the entire staff there very professional and I can tell that they all really love cats.
All vets over book, but Dr. Smith took the time to find the root of my cat's symptoms, instead of under-diagnosing like the first busy vet had done. And she managed to fit my emergency issue around her busy schedule on Saturday.
If you have a cat with a chronic condition like my beloved pet, you can't do better than Dr. Smith. She is caring and knowledgeable, and will go out of her way to provide the best care for your cat. No more all-purpose vets for me!
