Review content:
If you are at all familiar with the Hermitage area, this little grocery store is a gem in the midst of a growing community. \r
\r
Located at the crossroads of Dodson Chapel Road and Central Pike, it is convenient to many different apartment complexes as well as new and established home sites.\r
\r
This grocery has a terrific staff, and their manager, Rick Benson, always has the time to personally help you find whatever it is that you're looking for. \r
\r
They carry a nice selection of ""basic"" groceries - not a lot of fancy, overpriced things here. It's a cinch to park, run in and get what you need in a reasonable amount of time -- NOT at all like going to Kroger, Publix or another grocery where you have to fight to find a parking place, search a huge store for what you're looking for and then wait in line for what seems like an eternity to check out. \r
\r
Benson's has the freshest meat anywhere in town -- they are known for their meat selection, and the cuts are always reasonably priced and are always nice looking, and even better tasting. People drive from all over town just to shop for meats at Benson's.\r
\r
All in all, this is a terrific little store that has stood the test of time. Lots of regulars come in, and each one is greeted by name - many have been shopping at Benson's since the eldest Benson, Myron, started the store back in the 40s. That's right -- the 1940s. It's one of the oldest businesses in Hermitage, and I hope that it stays that way for a long, long time.
Pros: Easy parking, friendly staff, great selection of ""basic"" groceries
Cons: Nothing fancy here -- no special fancy fruits, veggies or spices
