A breathtaking store, walking into the large space, natural light fills the room with an ambient warm glow from the large skylights above. Catching the flags and banners, which gently wave overhead, the sunlight filers down, kissing the large Buddhist and Asian statues which are dotted throughout. Walking into the clothing sections, all the items are of high quality and sturdy soft fabrics, rich in color, and each piece is authentic. In some of the smaller statues, depicting various Hindu stylized deities, you can easily become lost in the amazingly intricate details of each. The intricate patterns which adorn many of the wall pieces look they could have been painstakingly carved from a temple wall. The meditation room upstairs hosts classes several times a week through Narayan's close work with the Tibetan Healing center nearby. \r This location has been a staple for practitioners and admirers of eastern culture alike. When it had been Buddha Head, Narayan rented one of the small rooms in the back, however when the previous owner decided not to renew his lease, Narayan saw an opportunity and jumped. Keeping the theme the same, he brought in higher quality authentic merchandise from his home country as well as others, and has enjoyed a thriving business ever since. Unique in San Diego, Eye of Buddha is one of the largest southeast Asia import stores in the entire county. Most of his customers are lifelong fans, though as new generations fall in love with and discover the wonders of Eastern though, new customers come in all the time. \r \r Previously an engineer, he decided to give that career up over a decade ago and pursue his passion, using the art from his home country of Nepal to promote his native culture as well as those of others. You will be hard pressed to find a kinder or more knowledgeable business owner. He works long hard hours, but the satisfaction he feels when the right person find that special object or gift makes it all worthwhile.\r \r Whether you have long held a candle for eastern culture and philosophy, or a dilettante just looking to explore, everyone who visits Eye of Buddha feels the spiritual atmosphere and the relaxed nature of the store. Make sure to visit Eye of Buddha's other location at Pangea Outpost in Pacific Beach.\r
