Review content:
Approximately a couple of weeks ago, my husband and I purchased what appeared to be a decent used SUV from Doug Justus Auto Center. Needless to say, we were shocked when the ""check transmission"" light came on on CHRISTMAS DAY. My husband managed to get the vehicle home, and to a shop the next day (since nothing is open on Christmas), hoping that the transmission just needed to be flushed, and new fluid put in. No such luck - the shop found metal slivers in the transmission fluid. The transmission will have to be rebuilt at a cost of $1,200-$1,500 (money we don't have, since we just bought the vehicle). My husband did try to check the transmission fluid before we bought it, only to find out it has a sealed, self-maintaining transmission, that the average person can't get into to check. The transmission problem was something they should've known about before they sold it, yet nothing about the transmission was ever mentioned to us. In buying a used vehicle, we didn't expect perfection...but I think any reasonable person would expect their ""new-to-them"" vehicle to last longer than a week and five days before something MAJOR (like the transmission) goes wrong with it!
