Review content:
We arrived on a friday at 3pm and expected to wait. I am guessing there pretty much isn't ever a time where waiting isnt expected. Its in a pretty crappy neighborhood, and you are compelled to wait in eeh street, and this is because of Kuma's biggest problem, the ear splitting, way too loud for a restaurant music.
I'm 30. I was a musician, I played loud obnoxious music for crowds for years, but this seemed like the obnoxious bartender had just decided that everyone within 40 yards of this place was going to get a serious education on bad, growling, ""cookie monster vocal"" METAL!!!!!
so long story short, you can't wait inside because you cant hear anything inside. so if you want to stare blankly at your companions for an hour or so or wait outside with everyone else. good thing it wasn't raining.
Despite it not having that many seats and having a lot of employees everything takes forever. Beers take 15 minutes, although the server isn't busy. The server cant really hear you and you cant really hear them, so it accurately resembles the awful experience of ordering a drink in a nightclub. It was pretty ridiculously slow for a place that only has 6 or so tables and serves a really simple and restricted menu Especially considering that you are compelled to mill around on a corner outside near a shady ""massage parlor"" for an hour or so before even being seated.
When the food arrives the portions are essentially what I call ""Flintstonian."" Their burgers are gigantic, essentially double the size they need to be. They have a lot of burgers, but I agree with another commented, its like a heavy metal themed ""Red Robin."" Nothing here is really gastronomically reaching for the stars, its primarily reliant on a gigantic amount of meat, and 2 or three things on top of it, which you could probably find other places.
The immediately began clearing things and bringing the check while the last person was still eating. They are definitely trying to turn over tables but they could have been more subtle about hustling us out of there. we weren't exactly loitering, in fact we were being conscious that there was a wait and still felt a bit hustled out of there.
The large serving size, mountain of fries and general greasiness of it all i am sure is great for drunks and anyone else who wants to gain 5 lbs at the same time while losing their hearing. I've had burgers as good or better in chicago and didn't have to deal with 1/8th of as much as a trip to Kumas.
The food isnt bad, but its not revolutionary, its heaping amounds of greasy indulgence food. However if you don't want to make an ordeal out of getting
Pros: you can eat several meals from one plate of food.
Cons: Insanely loud music. Insanely slow service.
