Review content:
The equipment and facilities are very nice. Alot of the people I have dealt with are very friendly and professional. My complaint and reason for giving a single star is a result of my own experience at this gym. When I went in to get a membership the individual who signed me up lied to me about the cancelation policy of this gym in order to get me to sign a 2 year membership agreement. I don't know if this meant more commission for him or what his reasons were for doing it, but I specifically told him that I would be moving in 1 year and that the location was situational depending on which job offer I accepted. I asked to have a 1 year membership, but was quickly taked into getting the 2 year agreement with the reassurance that in the event that I did move I would be able to pay a small cancelation fee and be on my way. Now as it turns out the location I moved to is still within 30 miles of an Xcel Gym location and this is apparently a 'catch' in the agreement which leaves me paying another year on my membership and I have been told that I have no way out and no way to cancel. This is likely the fault of one employee and not the gym as a whole, but regardless Xcel needs to take responsibility for properly training and ensuring their employees are not lying to new customers just to get their membership numbers up.
