DO NOT SHOP HERE! VERY RUDE AND I FELT THREATENED!\r
I purchsed a fish from Fins Aquatic Livestock and Supplies on Woodrow St, Irmo Sc. I made it clear to the owner, Rick West, that I was purchasing this fish as a gift for my husband and that aquatic show tanks were his hobby, not mine. He retrieved the fish for me and asked if we would be acclimating the fish and I said yes. He rang me up, I paid and left with my new fish. \r
Exactly two days later the fish could not be found in our tank. We did as we were told, my husband has been doing this for 10 yrs, the other fish were not attacking our new fish and he seemed to be doing well. However, on that second day the fish was found dead in the evening. \r
Both my husband and I called the number on the receipt at least twice a day, different times each day for a week and there was no answer. It just rang and rang. We lived 45 mins away so the next time I was in the area I brought the dead fish and receipt and told him what happened. He said there was only a 24 hour policy on dead fish which had to be brought back in water. He said it was my fault I did not grab a piece of paper that had their policies. I was a new customer and if I was buying a fish shouldn't he have asked if I knew their policy? \r
He swore that this fish had been killed and wanted a list of the fish in our tank. He said we did not acclimate this fish which we did. He also said the fish was fine for TWO months at his store but when I bought the fish he said it had only been there for 5 weeks? He laughed at everything I said, he cut me off while I spoke, made it clear that it was OUR fault the fish died and MY fault I did not know their policy. When I asked why the phone was never answered he said they don't answer when with a customer. I asked why he hadn't asswered for a week and he asked what my number was. What does that have to do with anything?\r
He said because I was angry he would give us another fish 1/2 off when they arrived and again he argued with me saying no other fish store in the area honors dead fish after 24 hours. After it was clear that he would not see my point and after he was very rude to me and laughed at me I took my receipt and said this place did horrible business and I was going to tell everything not to shop here. He called after me, followed me in the parking lot to my car reaching for my receipt saying he wants the receipt back. I said no and put it in my purse and said if he touched me I was calling the cops and I drove away. \r
DO NOT SHOP HERE! Rick West is rude to his customers and had me afraid he was going to physically grab the receipt from my hands. He does bad business and goes back on his word.
