Enjoy this 9-year old 18-hole golf course through the 2009 season, because the current owner is rumored to plan its demise in the fall of 2009, opting instead, to develop it into a housing development. Only a frustrating economy has enabled this fine addition to the Vancouver-Camas area to remain a golf course for this long. It's a very nice experience, offering a challenge, both to the seasoned players and to the relatively high handicap golfers. The fairways are generous, the holes quite varied and the greens very difficult to correctly read. Most suggest all breaks are toward Green Mountain. They are wrong. The majority of putts do break toward the mountain, but it's only the skilled or lucky golfer who can determine which greens break away from the mountain, and execute their stroke accordingly. The golf course is maintained exceptionally well, considering the limited staff of golf course maintenance personnel. During the heavy spring, summer and fall season, the course has a staff of marshals and starters, most, of whom, are well qualified. There are flowers planted in some areas which enhance the beauty of this reasonably priced facility. There is a very adequate practice facility that offers both matted and grass (at a higher cost) practice areas. Also, a practice bunker exists just outside the Pro Shop and a practice green is adjacent to the first hole. Slightly annoying to some, is the unusual policy that requires all golfers to tee off the 10th hole on even numbered days, Monday through Friday, instead of the first hole, playing the back nine first. This is especially awkward because of the location of the eighteenth green, causing a very long walk from that green to the first tee, in order to complete an 18-hole round. Any golfer within a 100-mile radius of Metropolitan Portland, owes it to him(her)self to enjoy this facility sometime before it goes away.
