My GF can attest to the fact that we like to spend more time in the city than in Sacramento. But you know, I got to give my girl Allison some love and come out her way once and a while. Well, on this one Friday evening I was happy to endure the two hour Amtrak ride to the capital because I got to enjoy one of the best meals of my life ... on this planet.\r \r We showed up at Kru on relatively busy Friday night without a reservation, but scored a great two-top right on the front window. This way we could check out the folks strolling down J street.\r \r We opened with some delicious drinks and miso soup. Followed by the scallops and foie gras. Now, can you think of something more rich than scallops toped with foie gras? Hmmmm ... maybe lobster and foie gras or kobe beef and foie gras. I wonder if Chef would take my request the next time I visit?\r \r The second course was the lobster tempura. Now, as you may have noticed from my other reviews, I have staples for each cuisine that I like to taste when trying a new place. For Japanese, this happens to be the freshness of the fish and tempura. I learn how to judge the later from my friend Aya. The tempura has to be light and crispy. If it oily and soggy ... no bueno. Kru knocked the tempura out of the park! Their tempura baaaaaracks! (Yes, that was a political plug).\r \r Third course, we split entrees. She ordered some delicious rolls and I had the deluxe sashimi mix. They were equally spectacular.\r \r I love this place!!!\r \r Oh, and the service and environment were nice as well :-)\r \r BONUS!! Allison forgot her wallet a home, so I picked up the dinner. Now, you're asking, how's that a good thing. Well, she picked up the next one ... at the Kitchen ;-) Pros: creative, rich and fresh
