Move over, Pure! Tarahumata is on its way to being the cool, hip joint in Alpharetta! With a creative, fresh food menu; a huuuuge list of perfectly-mixed drinks; and a sophisticated but relaxed atmosphere, this restaurant is a top pick for me and my friends when we don't want to venture all the way inside the Perimeter. \r

The first time I went here was late on a Friday night. The atmosphere was great - they sat us outside by the tiki torches, but the service was slow. Even after staring down the waiters who walked by our table, we couldn't get anyone to take our order. Since we weren't up for a late night, we decided to leave. We made it all the way into our car, and the manager chased us out to our car and begged us to come back in so he could make it up to us. Impressed by his eagerness to please us as new customers, we decided to step back in. And I'm so glad we did! The manager brought us pomagranate margaritas that were TO DIE FOR. I'm glad Inocente chose our drinks for us because I could have spent hours oo'ing and ah'ing over all the tempting drinks listed on the menu before I could come close to a decision. \r

Everything about the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is not at all what you would expect. Most Mexican restaurants in Atlanta feel hokie and serve bland, ""southernized"" food. Tarahumata looks more like it belongs in Southern California with its mission-style decor, relaxing but trendy music, and waterfalls and tiki torches. It's certainly nothing you would expect to find so far out in the suburbs. \r

Do yourself a favor and discover this wonderful restaurant. \r

Pros: atmoshpere, drinks, service, originality
