Review content:
My family recently used this company to move ONLY furniture 1.5 miles to a new house. (Keep in mind all of our other belongings we had already boxed up and moved to the new house! We did this ourselves.) When we received our moving quote from their customer service representative he quoted that service would cost $68 per hour, free blanket wrapping to protect the furniture and that our entire move would not exceed $500. We asked the customer service representative if there were any hidden costs, and he assured us that there were not.
The day of the move, the van showed up with graffiti all over the side (not a good omen.) We repeatedly asked the head mover to provide us with a solid price for the move, but he kept refusing to give us the final number until he and his crew had finished packing all of our furniture. We kept reiterating that the customer service rep had quoted us a price of $500, and the head mover kept telling us he had to wait and see how long it took to pack everything and load it onto the truck. After 3 hours all of our belongings were finally on the truck, and they demanded that we pay $1200 to move our stuff to the new house. (Over DOUBLE what they had originally quoted.) The movers refused to give us a break down of what was being charged. When my family refused to pay such an exorbitant amount, the mover started to get hostile and began yelling obscenities. We told him to remove our stuff out of the van and they refused. He then threatened to take our stuff back to their headquarters until we could pay the full amount. At this point, my father jumped into their moving van, took the keys out of the ignition, and promptly called the Santa Clara Police Department. The Police Dispatcher instructed us to keep the keys of the van until officers could be dispatched to the house. The Dispatcher informed us that this company has been swindling Santa Clara Residents by charging them double and triple what they were originally quoted. We tried calling the customer service representative and the owner of the company, but were told that they were both out of the office at the time. (Yeah Right!) Once the officers arrived, they instructed the movers to provide a break down of exactly what they were charging $1200 for. The police determined that they were overcharging us. They wanted to charge us $300 for supplies (which amounted to a couple rolls of tape and some bubble wrap) and the time that they had to wait for the police to arrive. The police suggested that we pay a portion of the bill so that they would deliver our stuff, and then report them to the better business bureau and take them to small claims court. After paying them a lesser amount, they finally agreed to deliver our belongings to the new house.
After this horrible ordeal, we then realized that the movers failed to deliver a dvd player, a cable box, and several remote controls. After several calls to their main office, the movers came back the following day to deliver our goods. I'm pretty sure any positive reviews of this company are from employees and not customers.
I wish I had researched this company prior to utilizing them. This was by far the worst moving experience I have ever had. I will be reporting this company to the BBB and I am contemplating filing a lawsuit against them in small claims court. Save yourself some misery, and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!
Cons: This company tried to rob me!
