As a former chef I look for very specific things in a restaurant. I want the flavors to be clean, not overpowering, the food to be properly cooked, & the service to be helpful & polite.\r This lovely little restaurant is an absolute must for Thai food lovers, or really anyone. It is spotless, intimate, & very beautiful inside.\r \r Siam has a lovely ""energy"" to it, an intangible I always look for. Our waitress was completely charming & attentive. I always ask the wait-staff for suggestions the first time at a restaurant. ""What do YOU like? What's REALLY good here?"". Usually the wait-staff is the best authority on what?s really good, I?ve found. You just gotta ask. \r \r The Thai beer was great. My vegetarian wife loves Thai food; it gives her plenty of options. Appetizers we shared were spring rolls (excellent & NOT a bit greasy), vegetable soup, full of perfectly cooked veggies & superb flavors, as well as a salad appetizer with Siam?s rendition of the traditional peanut sauce on the side. Absolutely perfect. It was so good we saved some to use on the rest of our meal.\r \r My wife had Pad Si-Eow (a Thai stirfry), which our waitress was happy to add tofu to. My wife wasn?t bowled over, but I thought it was quite good. My waitress recommended a spicy Thai Chicken (can?t remember the name), which I asked to be made not so spicy. Absolutely fabulous... the chicken melted in my mouth & the flavors were clean & excellent. I ate every bite. I rarely do.\r \r The menu has tons of choices, good prices, PLUS a $5.99 lunch w/choice of almost everything on the dinner menu! My wife hates blowing $10 on a bad sandwich & soda, which is all she can get near her old office. She just opened in West Hartford, & she's excited about coming to Siam for lunch.\r \r My chef-sense tells me whatever you order, you'll be pleased. But you HAVE to try something with peanut sauce, they make one of the best I've ever had. Pros: Just about everything: ambience, food, service, value
