Review content:
The office failed to contact my dentist's office in St. Louis where I had just had x-rays taken a month prior, I had to pay 80 dollars for an x-ray at their office because of a mistake their receptionists made. I even offered to call my dentist myself to get the x-rays sent over and they assured me that they had it under control. After all of that got settled, I was in the chair getting ready for the surgery, I told the nurse how nervous I was. She ignored me and just placed a nitrous mask over my face without asking if I even wanted one. It started to kick in and I took the mask off because I felt very strange. The nurse looked at me like I was crazy for not wanting nitrous. Dr. Trakas walked in and didn't even look at me or introduce himself. All he said was ""Looks like you have some wisdom teeth and we're going to pull them."" I asked if I really needed all 4 pulled, considering one tooth had grown in all the way and hadn't given me any problems. All he said was ""Yeah."" As soon as he said that, I was injected with anesthesia and put to sleep. He perscribed me Hydrocodone and Penicillin, when I specifically told him my mom was VERY allergic to Penicillin, so I might be, also. I was still under sedation when I received the Penicillin. My boyfriend administered it to me, not knowing that I could be allergic. I ended up having an allergic reaction to the medicine. I also read on the bottle that Penicillin lowers the effectivness of birth control. Dr. Trakas ignored the fact that I could be allergic (and was) to Penicillin and completely failed to tell me that I should take extra precautions with my birth control. I was paying for the surgery out of pocket. I originally was quoted $875 but my credit card was charged $1,200. The whole experience was just very uncomfortable. The office is pretty incompetant. I understand that the surgery I got was very common and he does it numerous times every day, but as an oral surgeon, he needs to take care of his patients.
Pros: Very pretty office
Cons: Incompetant staff and oral surgeon
