Review content:
Early in 2009 I awoke with severe chest pain. My wife drove me to our local hospital and they confirmed that I was having a heart attack. Being in a small rural community they were not equipped to help me. Within 10 minutes the doctor returned and told me that he had contacted Freeman Health System and they had a chopper on the way to get me. From the moment that the chopper arrived I knew that things were going to be OK. The flight nurse and paramedic came in and talked to me about what to expect on the flight and at the hospital. They also went out of their way to made sure I was both prepared and comfortable. The next few hours are a blur; I arrived at Freeman and was immediately taken to their heart care center where Dr. Nicholas cleared my blocked arteries. I spent the next four days in ICU under the care of great staff. Not only did the staff and doctors make sure I was well cared for, they did the same for my family. In looking back, I can say with certainty the staff of Freeman are truly some of the most caring people I have ever met.
