My wife has an allergy to dairy; if any butter is used in cooking, she will become very ill. We told this to the waiter, and asked him for three dishes to confirm with the kitchen that there was no dairy used in its preparation. He told us the grilled salmon was clear, so she ordered that dish.\r Shortly after getting home, she got violently ill. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager about the food. His first response when I mentioned an allergy was to say that it was not their food - she must have eaten something else. When I told him that was not possible (she had not eaten for 5 hours before that, and prepared that meal herself) he told me it could be staph in the fish, but that she would get over that (most restaurants are a bit more concerned about bad food, since a restaurant lives and dies by the quality of its food). I pushed him to check with the chef, to confirm that it was something they prepared. He called me back shortly after that, to confirm that, despite their promises, they had used a bit of butter in the rice that was served with the fish. Rather than check to see how bad her allergy was, the chef argued that there should not have been an issue, since the kitchen uses on a little butter in the rice. They then acknowledged that this was an error, and assuming got my wife ill.\r To make up for her suffering, they offered us a free brunch for 2 at the Chart House (this, while she is still sick).\r If you have any food-related allergies, do not go there! Their relaxed attitude (and lack of remorse) caused her to become very ill. Pros: Beautiful view of the city. Cons: No regard for food allergies. Service was sloppy and hurried. Staff were a bit arrogant for a restaurant in that area.
