Review content:
I went to see Dr. Doug to have my two front teeth straightened and to close the gap between them. \r
\r
Suffice to say, Dr. Doug failed to explain what would happen to my teeth in order to close the gap. By the end of his treatment, which involved braces and which took far longer than he had initially told me it would, he had realigned every single upper tooth such that my upper teeth no longer met my lower teeth. That meant I couldn't chew food properly and that I developed speech problems (pronouncing certain consonants became difficult) and a denture-wearer-type whistle. The only way to correct the problems caused by his ""treatment"" would be to get braces on my lower teeth to realign all of them as well. \r
\r
I think Dr. Doug should have told me before treatment that he planned to realign all of my upper teeth in order to close the gap. If he had, I would have opted for a different treatment plan or no treatment plan.\r
\r
I later learned that Dr. Doug owes his career to his father, who was a big name at UB's Dental School and with the Erie County Dental Society. Apparently, Dr. Doug, despite his father's success, didn't qualify for UB Dental and UB's Orthodontics program and had to settle for far lesser schools. Worse, unlike his father who actually cared about patients, Dr. Doug is far more interested in money than in patients. His staff comes and goes like the wind, in part, because of his arrogant attitude. (I've encountered some of his former employees at other dental offices and they're relieved they don't have to deal with him anymore.)\r
\r
If you decide to go to Dr. Doug for treatment, be sure to get him to outline, in full and in writing, his plans for your teeth. Also, if anything seems to be amiss, it probably is, so stop treatment immediately and move on before your teeth are ruined!
Pros: convenient locations
Cons: lousy techniques; took longer than expected; did not disclose full treatment plan
