Review content:
I've lived on the West Side for years, and have seen Frankie's go through its ups and downs. Up until recently, it had been THE place for good pizza if you were anywhere near North Olmsted.
But now Frankie's is going through one of its ""down"" periods. The three take-out pizzas I've had from them in the last three months were, in order, ""just OK"", ""Not-so-good"", and ""downright BAD."" The last one had no detectable sauce, was undercooked, too greasy (and I speak as one who doesn't mind a fairly greasy pie) and as if to make up for the lack of sauce, big gobs of half-melted mozarella scattered about the surface.
Maybe it's new ownership or new manager-- I don't know. I do know that I won't be going back there anytime soon. I hate to dis a neighborhood institution, and to be fair I didn't try any of their non-pizza offerings. But if they are willing to serve such a horrible pizza, I can't imagine that their rigatoni, say, would be much better.
Pros: Neighborhood Institution
Cons: On the skids
