Review content:
Let me start by saying, the folks working behind the counter at Fetch are very nice & happy to answer your questions. They do sell all the great premium brands of pet food, but the prices are much higher than the other area pet stores. If this was a community that depended on foot traffic, that would be fine, but when I saw Wellness canned food for $1.85, and I buy it at K-9 specialties for $1.40. I'm going to get in my car & drive the few miles away for the much better price. Even if I didn't want to go as far as K-9's, I could go down the road to Pet Supplies Plus where they sell the same food for $1.70. You will also see a decent variety of non-food products at Fetch. But you can find the same thing at a better price at another local pet store. I was very surprised that Fetch was selling the same bed I bought my dog from Costco. Fetch had the same exact bed in their bin for $34.99. I bought it at Costco for $17.99. It even had the Kirkland tag on it, so I know it came from Costco. I was just kind of appalled that they would buy this kind of cute, but not very special dog bed at Costco, then almost double the price. There are several types of pet stores in the area. You have your chains, specialty places like Bow-Meow & Yuppy Puppy that carry items you can't find anywhere else. Then, there is the seriously cheap, K9 specialties. I think Fetch could be better than all of these stores by carrying the premium brands, but make up for the higher prices by offering items that are more unique and specialized. Our family likes to shop at local places. We really do. But in this economy, Michiganders need to stretch their dollars. If Fetch is going to charge more expensive prices, they need to carry unique products that you won't find at the chain stores or at least they should stop stocking pet items from Costco. If they decide to offer something every other store has missed, maybe we'll buy from them again. Three stars awarded because they're simply average. Pros: Nice, clean, friendly people. Convenient to people in Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak. Cons: Expensive, nothing special that you can't find at all of the other area stores that aren't that far away.
