Review content:
If you have a child that is of normal inteligence, then the school is okay. If you have a child that is in special education, the school lacks a lot. The director of special services that was there 3 years ago was great and put a lot of things into place, but she only stayed 2 years. She implemented a really good read and write program for children that have trouble reading. They use overlays for children with dyslexia. For childen that are autistic spectrum disorder pdd-nos you are better off going to another district. They do not want to put out the money to teach these kids. Some of these kids are entitled to go to a private school, but with Channelview it is a fight to get them to do anything. They want to expell these children for doing things that they know the child cannot help. This new director wants to push them out of school as soon as possible. These kids are entitled to go to school until they are 22. If you put your child there with autistic spectrum disorder pdd-nos be ready to fight for your child's education. Learn the law when it comes to 504 children, don't be afraid to call ARC of Greater Houston, even if you have to call your own attorney, but be prepared to fight for your child's education. Pros: Good Community Cons: Poor Special Education
