Where shall I begin? When I first arrived to this hotel, the very young desk clerk was checking in guests. There were about 6 customers in line and she was the ONLY ONE working the front desk. As she was trying to check us in, one of her managers came in and began to berate her in front of ALL the GUESTS. This reprimanding continued off and on for approximately 5-10 minutes. Then she was told by the manager to stop checking us in (this was about 2:40 p.m) but to wait until 3 p.m. Then the manager spun around, and said that if we checked in before 3 p.m. we would NOT BE GETTING a clean room!!!!! My perception was, La Quinta will punish us by issuing dirty rooms if we checked in before 3pm. It wasn't a tone of voice that was apologetic and accommodating.... but threatening. This manager made me feel as if I were in trouble. We were the CUSTOMERS! This whole tragic, first-hand experience w/ La Quinta hotels began the downward spiral for my stay. My bathroom smelled like a dirty dish rag. I asked if they could spray some Lysol but was told the maids didn't work after 6 p.m.. I left a note the next morning for the maid ASKING if she could clean the bathroom to alleviate the dirty smell...she did not. The odor is forever etched in my memory because I was subjected to it for 4 days. Then my room happened to be an adjoining room. The door between myself and some other guest, was unsafe. The door handle was literally busted off and I could see through the door hole. I asked maintenance to fix it, and after 24 hours, the guy finally came and all he did was push the handle in. It was still loose. I felt unsafe at this hotel. Then my wireless connection never worked. I was told by their very young desk clerk, ""Oh just come down and use the business center."" What? That's how they solve a customer's problem for a service they advertise and profess to provide? This was my first and last visit with this hotel chain. Cons: Security, Cleanliness, Service, Professionalism
