TERRIBLE dental office! One visit is all it should take for anyone to run the other direction. While in the waiting room I heard a phone call come in from a patient calling to cancel his appointment. As the reception person hung up she yelled to Dr. Richard Cohen who came out from somewhere in the back. The receptionist said the patients first and last name and in a very sarcastic tone said to Dr. Cohen "he said he is "sick" and wont be in today". In seconds there were several of the office employees and Dr. Cohen talking about the patient that had cancelled. Let's just say they were saying things that were not at all nice. Dr.Cohen called the patient back and asked question upon question about how/why the patient was ill. Upon hanging up, Dr. Cohen made several comments about the patient including this first and last name. HIPPA??? Shortly after, Dr. Cohen came out to introduce himself to me but was promptly distracted by my water bottle. He told me that I had to take my bottle of water out of his office and it was to not be brought back in (cap was on). Next he asked me if I had not seen the sign that said "no food or beverage". I explained that I had seen the sign but I didn't think a bottle of water that was recapped between drinks was an issue. Dr. Cohen explained that he had been "turned in" in the past and that he "must treat all patients equally". What?? At first I thought he was joking but no, he is indeed that odd. As a first time patient I felt sick wondering why on earth he had been "turned in", surely it wasn't due to a beverage in the waiting room. Soon I was in the dental chair with Dr. Cohen and an assistant leaning over me talking about the patient that had called in that morning. Dr.Cohen instructed the assistant to go and call the patient back (now the 2nd call back to the patient) and tell the patient that he would need a doctors note indicating that he was indeed too ill to attend a dental appointment that day.
