Engine light came on - code read "catalytic converter" - after spending around $500.00 fixing unnecessary things like changing spark plugs, etc., they quoted me a price of almost $900.00 to replace the catalytic converter. They failed to tell me that they had already done most of this work already with the previous repairs, nor did they tell me that I could take the car elsewhere and have a "welding" job done for around $200.00. They "knew" I would have to continue to bring the car back and back until I was forced to pay the $900.00 repair. I was informed by another mechanic shop that I had basically been charged for about $500.00 of work that never should have been done in the first place. If your engine light comes on and the code reads "catalytic converter", 9 times out of 10, it's really the catalytic converter, not bad spark plugs. Needlesstosay, my car has never been the same. It doesn't drive the same, stalls at lights, and never ever did any of this prior to taking it to Hook Tire. I can even be at stop lights, light turns green, I push the gas and nothing happens, the car just sits there and then suddenly "takes off". They told me this was the car "relearning codes". However, three months later my car still appears to be relearning codes. I've now spent over $1000.00 in repairs. Now, no one can figure out what has been done to my car to make it run the way it does. We are at a loss and will soon be selling it because of this. My husband will never allow my car to even have an oil change at this location again.
