After trying a gyro plate at the Taste of Oregon, I had to check out the restaurant and take my husband along. The atmosphere was calm and we were able to enjoy our conversation. The food was great. The service was iffy. I do not like syrupy over cheerful servers, so I am not offended if they do not bounce over to the table, sit down and start chatting like we're old friends. But our server was borderline rude. He did answer our menu questions. He did keep our water glassed filled. He did bring our food while it was still hot. However, he made perfectly clear our substitutions for potatoes instead of salad were not welcome and he'd be very glad when everyone left and the restaurant closed for the night. If you can not let a huffy server spoil the atmosphere and food, I say go. If you are a fan of the shinny happy servers, maybe see if the do take out.
