The Hearth is almost a landmark in Brookfield, with customers willing to travel from as far away as New York State. With second-generation management, The Hearth consistently offers homestyle cuisine, served by wonderful waitresses, many of whom have worked for both generations and who have garnered a following of repeat multi-generational customers. The Hearth has an ""Early Bird Special"" menu during the week that is available until 8:00 p.m. and which offers soup or salad and entree for $10.95! I doubt anyone could put together such delicious food at home for that price in today's economy. Closed for lunch (except for private parties) during the week, The Hearth serves dinner Tuesday thru Sunday and lunch on Saturday. Private parties are accommodated, with extraordinarily reasonable prices for lunch ($13.95 pp, including tax and tip, for fruit cup or soup, Hearth Bread and butter, salad, stuffed baked potato, mixed vegetables, coffee/tea and dessert) as well as dinner ($20.50-24.00, depending on entree selection, with all of the above included). My personal favorites are the Hearth's Delight (succulent sliced steak, accompanied by the best -ever onion rings, potato or rice and vegetable), and the Baked Scrod (flaky baked scrod filet, topped with butter and bread crumbs, served with potato or rice and vegetable). The Hearth serves dinner Tuesday thru Sunday and lunch on Saturday. Pros: Great food, ample parking, friendly service
